Excited to announce the launch of the NIRFUS project (EIC Pathfinder)!
Coordinated by TUM, NIRFUS aims to advance interventional cardiology by combining morphological imaging with patho-biological information. The project will develop breakthrough medical micro-optics and enable, for the first time, clinical-grade near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) integrated with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) through hybrid NIRF-IVUS catheters.
These innovations have the potential to set new standards in intravascular imaging and improve outcomes for millions of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) each year, while increasing efficiency and reducing healthcare costs.
We kicked things off with an online meeting on February 6, 2026, followed by our first in-person gathering on March 31, 2026, at TranslaTUM, in Munich.
